Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
